Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 26, 2026

The Q+ Equality Foundation respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit qplusequality.org, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to information collected through this website and through direct correspondence with us.

We try to follow a simple principle: collect as little as we need to do our work, keep it for only as long as makes sense, and tell you honestly what we do.

Who we are

"We," "us," and "the Foundation" refer to the Q+ Equality Foundation, a Delaware nonprofit corporation organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation is the data controller for information collected through this site.

What information we collect

The information we hold about visitors falls into a few categories.

When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically logs standard request information: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page or resource you requested, the user agent (browser type and version), and the page that referred you. This kind of logging is universal across the web and is necessary to operate the site and detect abuse. We do not combine these logs with other personal information to build a profile of you.

If we use website analytics, we use a privacy-respecting service that does not set cookies, does not track visitors across sites, and does not collect personally identifiable information. The information simply helps us understand which pages people find useful so we can improve the site.

When you contact us by email at hello@qplusequality.org, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include in your message. We use it to respond to your inquiry and to keep a reasonable record of our communications.

When you book time with us through our scheduling tool (currently TidyCal), the information you submit through that tool — typically your name, email, and any context you add — is collected and stored by TidyCal under TidyCal's own privacy policy. We see the resulting meeting invitation in our calendar but do not store a separate copy of your details.

How we use information

We use information for these purposes only: to operate, maintain, and improve the site; to respond to your inquiry, schedule a meeting, or otherwise communicate with you about something you initiated; to detect, prevent, or address security incidents, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Use; and to comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share information with advertisers. We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. If we ever expand the site to include fundraising or program participation, we will update this policy to describe those activities clearly before they begin.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not set tracking cookies of its own. Third-party services we link to — for example our scheduling tool or our jobs board — may set cookies on their own pages when you visit them. Those cookies are governed by the privacy policies of the services that set them, not by this policy.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults engaged in workplace equality work. It is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

Depending on the laws of where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what personal information we hold about you, the right to access a copy, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to ask us to delete information (subject to limitations under applicable law), the right to restrict or object to certain uses, and the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

Specific frameworks that may apply include the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and similar laws in other jurisdictions. To exercise any of these rights, email us with enough detail to identify you and your request, and we will respond within the time required by the applicable law.

Data retention and security

We keep email correspondence only as long as we reasonably need to respond and to maintain a record of our communications. Hosting logs are retained according to our hosting provider's defaults, which is typically a short rolling window. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

No system can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that information will never be accessed or used in a manner inconsistent with this policy. If we become aware of a meaningful incident affecting your information, we will notify you in line with applicable law.

Third-party services we rely on

The site is built and operated using the following third-party services: Cloudflare Pages (hosting and content delivery); TidyCal (scheduling tool linked from the contact section); a separate jobs board hosted on a sibling subdomain, with its own privacy policy; and Google Fonts (typography served from fonts.googleapis.com).

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices. We choose providers that publish clear privacy policies and that we believe handle data responsibly, but we are not responsible for their independent practices.

International visitors

The Foundation is based in the United States. If you are visiting the site from outside the United States, please be aware that information you provide may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the site or contacting us, you consent to that transfer where it is permitted by your local law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, our service providers, or applicable law. We will update the "Last updated" date when we do. Material changes will be flagged on the site for a reasonable period. We encourage you to check back periodically.
